Wanting to let users put a slick image of your app on their home page? Simply create a 59 x 59 png file with your icon, name it apple-touch-icon.png and place the file in the root of your web application. The png file will automatically be picked up and placed on the home page.

Couple design things to keep in mind. The renderer for the home page will automatically put the highlight onto the icon as well as the rounded corners.

Save iRibbit, the web application that lets you bid on eBay auctions on your desktop and you can see the iRibbit icon.

Happy New Year to you all.  Just today version 2.5 of iRibbit.com was released opening up eBay on the iPhone to users all around the world!  Several international sites are now supported including:

• Australia (ebay.com.au)
• Canada (ebay.ca)
• France (ebay.fr)
• Germany (ebay.de)
• Hong Kong (ebay.com.hk)
• Singapore (ebay.com.sg)
• United Kingdom (ebay.co.uk)
• United States (ebay.com)

We are excited to have iRibbit support iPhone and iPod Touch users around the world.  When you go to iRibbit.com and sign in, iRibbit will automatically choose your international site that you registered with.  So if you are in the UK it will choose ebay.co.uk, if you are in Australia it will choose ebay.co.au.

If you do not want to sign in at the moment then you can go to the Settings button and select the eBay international site you want to search and view items.

As well we have updated various pages providing more item information and easier navigation.

The hosting provider for iRibbit.com has resolved the connection issue and everyone should be able to reach the web application now without an issue.  Happy Bidding.

Last night at around 8pm the server which is hosted went into a state of being too busy to handle requests from everyone.  We are actively working with the hosting company to get the system back and it should be available momentarily.  We are also actively working with them to improve the system that they have the application on.  We apologize for any issues this may have caused.

As of today as many have seen on some of the Mac news sites Apple has released a portal for iPhone and iTouch users to find neat applications designed specifically for the iPhone. Apple has been working on this for a couple months now, inviting developers of applications to join secretly so that when they launched there would be a key of applications available. iRibbit was one of those invited to be included and we are very excited.

If you have not heard Apple today opened their new portal to web apps built for the iPhone and iTouch products. It is a list of over 200 applications written by third party developers such as us.

As many of you have seen the iPhoneMyeBay name is migrating to iRibbit.com so update your bookmarks. We are moving away from the old name for a couple of reasons including creating our own identity. We hope you continue to enjoy the application and look for some new upcoming functionality shortly.

We have been actively working on the application based on people’s feedback and recently have been working on bringing item descriptions into the application. This has been more complex to bring it to the iPhone interface since eBay sellers can put in large images, html pages, and the like. Thus we have been developing a way of viewing the description while keeping as much of the great seller content as possible. We are currently testing and fine tuning the display of the description to the iPhone.

We can’t wait to let you see it.

Vangie Beal, contributor to eCommerce-guide.com, was kind enough to write about the new features just released in 2.1 in yesterday’s news at eCommerce-guide.com - http://www.ecommerce-guide.com/news/article.php/3699696. Vangie covers news and trends dealing with eBay and several other topics of interest. She not only covered the new functionality that shows the list of items that an eBay user is currently selling but also discussed the new name of the application iRibbit.com.

In the next week or so we will be updating the application and site to represent the new branding of the iPhoneMyeBay application.  The name iPhoneMyeBay was the original project name and seemed to stick.  However it is time for the application to have it own name as thousands of people use it with their iPhone.  After much deep thought we thought of those frogs catching flies and how long their darn tongues are.  How amazing that they can be that quick and catch a fly as it passes by.  Thus “catch it on the fly” on eBay with the new iRibbit.com from wherever you may be with your iPhone.

But don’t worry if you have iPhoneMyeBay.com bookmarked.  For a period of time the iPhoneMyeBay.com will direct you to iRibbit.com.
